JumpStart Technology
Overview
Wireless business software needs to integrate three confusing and complex
worlds: existing business software, wireless “over the air” technology,
and hand-held computing devices Until now, developer organizations have been
forced to figure out these three worlds themselves, or hire expensive system
integrators and specialized custom programming teams.
The JumpStart solution, BusinessSuite™, is a complete wireless business
application, designed to allow enterprise IT organizations to cost-effectively
deploy suites of wireless applications integrated with their existing IT
infrastructure.
Industry Trends
Rapid advances in cell phone technology have driven an enormous and expanding
wireless market. Increases in phone memory to 2 megabytes, multi processing.
and advances in screen resolution create an increasing number of uses and
application:
Mobile workers represent 65% of the wireless application market; representing an annual market in excess of $2.0B.
Jeff Bonar, JumpStart’s founder and CEO, maintains a WebLog
(BLOG) recording his insights on the wireless industry and musing on
trends, both technological and commercial. Be sure to check it out here.

Making Wireless Data Relevant
JumpStart envisions that the future of wireless data is not games or ring
tones, but business applications for mobile workers. This market focus provides
a reliable business model, caters to a huge market, and answers significant
business requirements of timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency.
The JumpStart
Wireless BusinessSuite is built on JumpStart’s wireless
software technology breakthrough – using artificial intelligence to
take the programmer out of the day-to-day development of wireless applications.
By editing a description of a business form – for example, a work order,
sales order, inspection report, time card, and so on – non-programmers
can quickly create integrated business applications. This is very similar
to a non-programmer setting up a spreadsheet for a particular financial management
task.
Form Definitions Tool
Wireless business forms are created with the BusinessSuite Form Definition
Tool. Wireless applications are generated from this tool, automatically integrating
security, compression, manageability, and reliability as well as connecting
to enterprise systems.
Linking Field Operations with
Enterprise Systems
JumpStart provides integration with accounting and other enterprise applications
via a “connector” that runs on the customers’ servers or
PCs. The connector uses both standard and proprietary APIs to provide wireless
access to customer, employee, pricing, and inventory information. This data
can travel via invoices, work orders, inspection reports, time sheets, and
purchase orders to mobile workers and back to the office. All this happens
within seconds.
Data can be imported and exported between BusinessSuite and many popular business applications and formats including SQL, Excel, .NET, XML, web services, Quickbooks and many specialized ERP and dispatch management applications.
With full web services support, BusinessSuite is ready today for sophisticated “on-demand” enterprise
wireless applications.
Applications are generated based on widely accepted standards and protocols including XML, Web Services, J2EE, and Secure Sockets. JumpStart’s patent pending technology generates functioning program code, eliminating the need of programmers and large system development projects. The result is tailored applications ready to go in a matter of hours or days.
